This painting is a bas-relief. It is carved from wood. The piece was made in 2014, after which it was put away in a back drawer for 5 years, until October 2019. In 2019 the piece was primed and painted with oil paints. The photograph doesn't convey the depth of the work.
The painting is based on Bosch's canvas "Christ Carrying the Cross", but the action is moved to 21st-century russia. Russia is the mother of vice, giving birth to vicious obscurantists. In the centre is a lost passionary, who is in confusion and doesn't know what to do. The passionary cannot understand the reason for what is happening and tries to fight imaginary enemies thrown at him by the system.
