On 3 June 2019 the Russian opposition blogger Vadim Kharchenko published a video on YouTube where he was walking down the street and saying that he had been attacked by Cossacks, that he had barely fought them off and was now walking wounded and bleeding, and that he urgently needed money to pay for an operation — supposedly Vadim urgently needed to have a severed arm sewn back on and gunshot wounds stitched up, which were bleeding.
The video made it clear that Vadim felt perfectly fine and was playing to the camera, but thousands of naive subscribers sent Vadim money to the account details he gave.
Later Vadim promised to show his subscribers statements, certificates and receipts for the expensive medical services, but never showed any such receipts, and the subscribers forgot and forgave the scam.
Situations like this happened to Vadim more than once. A couple of times Cossacks burned his cars, and Vadim urgently asked subscribers for money for a new one, because Vadim had suffered for the truth and for his subscribers.
Next to Vadim is Yuri Gimelfarb. A Soviet blogger from Israel. Yuri Gimelfarb regularly supported the scammer Kharchenko, confirming that Kharchenko really had been attacked by Cossacks and urgently needed help with money.
