Maria Zakharova is a Russian civil servant and diplomat. Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (the Russian Foreign Ministry).
A scandalously famous "diplomatess", a lover of strong spirits. She has been seen drunk many times during official appearances. Often, when drunk, she behaves aggressively, is rude, calls people names and throws herself into fights.
She got the nickname "The Hawthorn Lady" for her addiction to hawthorn tincture.
