After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the USA and the European Union imposed several packages of sanctions on Russia. But for russians the sanctions were not as scary as the response to them. The Russian government, in response to Western sanctions, ordered the destruction of products that Russian businessmen imported from Europe. The police carried out inspections in private shops and destroyed thousands of tonnes of food.
"In Russia three sanctioned geese were destroyed by bulldozer.
In one of the republic's shops three goose carcasses from Hungary were found and seized.
In Tatarstan, Rosselkhoznadzor officers found three frozen goose carcasses of Hungarian production in one of the shops in the village of Apastovo.
The operation to seize sanctioned products in the "Alsu" shop in the village was carried out on 12 August.
"The grounds for seizing these products are the lack of accompanying documents and labelling for these products, as well as the name being only in English," the police said.
The police filmed a video showing in detail how, in the presence of witnesses, the geese are seized from the shop and taken to a landfill, where about 10 people and a bulldozer take part in destroying the birds. The whole procedure lasted several hours."

"At the Chemodanovka landfill a tractor crushed 82 kg of Polish apples.
On 5 and 8 August, during unscheduled inspections at the Krymskaya wholesale and retail depot in Penza, officers of the Rosselkhoznadzor Directorate for the Republic of Mordovia and Penza Region uncovered illegal trade in apples. The fruit was stored in nine boxes with a total weight of 82 kg. Judging by the labels on the packaging, the fruit was grown in Poland.
The owners did not present documents confirming the legality of the Polish apples' presence on Russian territory and their phytosanitary safety.
Administrative offence cases have been opened against the sellers. It was decided to seize and destroy the products banned from import.
The sanctioned apples were destroyed mechanically at a solid household waste landfill near the village of Chemodanovka, Penza Region, the agency's website reports."
