Ukrainians often ask me to paint pictures on Ukrainian themes too, but I don't do it on principle, because Ukraine has its own artists, so let them raise these issues. Although I do have several paintings on Ukrainian themes; they were painted after strong shocks and disappointments that happened over the last three years. I rooted very strongly for Ukraine and suffered from a severe form of trans-Tarasism, but it was the Ukrainians themselves who cured me of this complex, by organizing a hate campaign against me and my family.
Now I have learned to accept reality as it is.
