I keep painting pictures for the ethno festival.
Domovoi with a Cat. Painting, oil, canvas. Semyon Skrepetsky.
"In Polish folklore the house spirit, or "chowaniec" (khovanets), is a guardian spirit of the home, similar to the Russian domovoi. He looks after the well-being of the family and household, but can also punish negligence. He is usually depicted as a small old man covered in fur, or as an animal, most often a cat or a dog. Poles believe that the house spirit can be either helpful or harmful, depending on how the owners treat him. "
