Mushrooms created all life on earth and created autonomous spacesuits that can move through space. The human is the latest, so far, version of the autonomous spacesuit. Mushrooms connect to the spacesuit as to a remote avatar and control it, easily manipulating human consciousness. The autonomous spacesuit isn't even aware of the moment of connection, since the spacesuit's software (the Ego) does not perceive the fact that thoughts and ideas (information) enter the brain from outside.
Mushrooms need spacesuits (avatars) to move in three-dimensional space. That is why mushrooms began to create devices that can physically move through the universe, spreading spores.
It's all very simple, it's just that your ego doesn't want to realize the fact that it is merely the software of a temporary disposable spacesuit.
